Welcome to The Affirmative Healing !
The Affirmative Healing is a calm, nurturing space where your inner world is welcomed with softness and care. We offer confidential psychotherapy, psychometric assessments, clinical supervision and wellbeing workshops — held within a queer and trans-affirmative, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and evidence-based framework. Here, healing is not rushed. It unfolds gently, through understanding, safety and connection. We support anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, relationship concerns, burnout, and substance use / de-addiction with a non-judgmental, deeply human approach. This is a space to breathe, unravel, rebuild and slowly return to yourself. The Affirmative Healing was founded by Shatavisa Majumder, who also serves as the organisation’s Lead Clinical Psychologist. Her clinical expertise and compassionate vision shape the soul and direction of this space.
So come onboard! You're welcome, just as you are!

The Affirmative Healing is a mental health practice built on softness, science, and the belief that every person deserves a place where they can land gently. We offer therapy that is queer- and trans-affirmative, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, supportive of substance-use recovery, culturally competent, decolonising in approach and grounded in strong clinical training — delivered with the warmth and dignity that real healing requires. What began as a vision to create a more inclusive therapeutic space has grown into a practice known for its depth, safety, and mindful intentionality. We work with individuals and couples navigating identity, relationships, emotional distress, life transitions, trauma, and patterns shaped by survival. Our approach is integrative and human-first: blending evidence-based modalities with presence, attunement, and a pace that honours where you are.✨What We Stand ForAffirmation & Inclusion
Everyone deserves care that recognises who they are — their identities, lived experiences, neurodiversity, cultural contexts, invisible disabilities, and the parts of their story that may not fit into society’s boxes.
We hold a non-judgmental, non-pathologising, non-stigmatising space for queer and trans communities, neurodivergent individuals, people navigating addiction and recovery, and anyone who has ever felt unseen or othered.
Our work extends to therapy, supervision, and training, building a wider culture of affirming practice in the country.Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based Practice
Healing needs both wisdom and skill. We combine ACT, DBT, CBT, mindfulness-based therapies, positive psychology frameworks, and other third-wave models — prioritising safety, choice, pacing, collaboration, and body-based awareness.
Whether in therapy, supervision, or training, we centre evidence, care, and compassion.Safety, Dignity, and Boundaries
Healing can only happen where people feel safe. We uphold strict ethical standards, uncompromised confidentiality, clear boundaries, and transparent practice across therapy, supervision, and training spaces.
You’re met with steadiness, consistency, and professionalism — always.Holistic, Eclectic and Personalised Care
There is no one-size-fits-all in healing.
Our approach is holistic and eclectic — integrating mind, body, behaviour, culture, relationships, and context, and steadily moving from an illness-based lens to a wellness-centred way of understanding your journey.
Every session, supervision meeting, or training interaction is tailored with intention, curiosity, and deep respect for your pace and your unique journey.✨ Our VisionTo create a deeply inclusive and culturally rooted mental health ecosystem — a space where therapy, supervision, and training support people and practitioners in becoming more fully themselves. A space not just for treatment, but for becoming.✨ Our FounderThe Affirmative Healing was founded by Shatavisa Majumder, a licensed Clinical Psychologist in India whose vision shapes the heart of this practice. You can learn more about her journey on our “Meet Our Founder” page.
Shatavisa Majumder (RCI Reg. No. A63528) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with 7+ years of independent practice and two additional years of intensive M.Phil training, supported by a Master’s in Applied Psychology. Her work blends clinical precision with deep compassion, offering care that is grounded, inclusive, and quietly transformative. She has worked across psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation centers, academic institutions, and private practice, supporting individuals and couples through psychotherapy, assessment, and diagnostic evaluations. Her core expertise includes queer and trans affirmative mental health, trauma and addiction recovery, areas in which she has trained extensively.Rooted in evidence-based practice, Shatavisa draws from CBT, BT, MET, RPT, and a wide range of third-wave approaches such as ACT, DBT, mindfulness-based therapies, and compassion-focused modalities. Her lens is trauma-informed, mindfulness-oriented, and inherently client-centered, shaped by the belief that healing is deeply personal and never linear. As the founder and lead clinical psychologist of The Affirmative Healing, she envisions a world of equity, where everyone can live fully and authentically — free from judgment, stigma, and discrimination, where every difference is welcomed and respected. This vision deeply shapes the practice: from therapy to supervision and training, every aspect is guided by cultural competence, a decolonising approach to mental health, a shift from illness to wellness, and an understanding of intersectionality. She believes that the most profound gift we can offer another living being is the experience of safety through our presence — a principle that informs how the team holds clients, nurtures early-career therapists, and cultivates every interaction.Outside the therapy room, she finds grounding in her furkids, long backpacking journeys, and exploring heritage sites. As a trained Kathak dancer, rhythm, discipline, and storytelling deeply shape her worldview. These passions infuse her practice with empathy, curiosity, and a profound respect for every person’s lived experience.

While much of my work is grounded in clinical practice, this section highlights my academic and research background, and is primarily intended for academic collaborators, supervisors, researchers and institutions I engage with in a professional or academic capacity.
If you're exploring therapy or supervision services, feel free to navigate back to the main offerings.
I’m a Clinical Psychologist (RCI licensed) with a practice and research orientation grounded in trauma-informed care, queer and trans-affirmative frameworks, and third-wave psychotherapies such as ACT, DBT, and CFT. My areas of interest include complex trauma and dissociation, deaddiction and harm reduction, and contextual approaches to psychotherapy.I am particularly drawn to questions around therapist identity, reflective supervision, and the cultural adaptation of psychotherapeutic models across South Asian contexts. My work sits at the intersection of intersectionality, culturally responsive care, and the ongoing decolonisation of mental health practice.I’m also deeply curious about the intersections of mental health and the legal/criminal justice system. While I do not yet have formal training or experience in forensic or criminal psychology, I am eager to explore these fields further through structured learning, supervision, and clinical exposure. Understanding criminal behaviour, systemic violence, and the psychological underpinnings of justice systems is an area I hope to meaningfully engage with in the future.
Currently exploring doctoral-level training in Clinical Psychology internationally, to deepen ongoing work at the intersection of research, supervision, and reflective therapeutic practice.
